Solo Gallery Exhibition: “Isolation Series” 2024
About
From November 4 - December 14, 2024 Helen Schuler Nature Centre in Lethbridge Alberta hosted my first solo art exhibition. The exhibition was called the “Isolation Series” and featured 27 watercolor paintings of wolves.
Helen Schuler Nature Centre is located on a 200-acre nature preservation park in the Oldman River Valley in Lethbridge, Alberta. It is a popular community gathering space, offering a wide range of educational, recreational, and cultural experiences to connect people with nature, while fostering a community of environmentally aware citizens. In addition, Friends of the Helen Schuler Nature Centre Society is a charitable organization that supports a community of environmentally responsible citizens with nature-based educational experiences, presentations, workshops, and special initiatives.
The gallery opening was on November 9th, 2024 and generously had refreshments sponsored by Stringam Law. Over 147 people attended the opening, more than 3x what was anticipated by the gallery. This was incredibly exciting because it brought a lot of attention and donations to the centre. Coloring pages were available for kids for the duration of the show (free page can be found here).
During the opening, Global News Lethbridge [interview can be seen here] and The Lethbridge Herald [article can be seen here] dropped in for an interview. In addition the exhibition was also posted in two other media stations here & here.
Words cannot express how thankful I am for all the support - it’s been overwhelming and I am so incredibly grateful for being given this opportunity to have my first solo art show.

Artist Statement
My paintings revolve around my ongoing love of wildlife and the world around me. I combined my passion for art with a very vulnerable point in my life, where in 2019, I gave birth to my first child, and not only did I experience a traumatic birth but also serious complications.
I paint for my son. He was diagnosed with a dual diagnosis of Down Syndrome and Autism. My art shows fire, passion, and love based on my experiences revolving around my little boy and my newborn daughter. Some paintings are happy and carefree, while others may be dark or sorrowful. My love for my children, emotions, and fear of the unknown will uncontrollably reflect in my work, which revolves around the vulnerability and beauty of the world around us.
The “Isolation Series” is a wolf-themed watercolour series that materialized as an extension of the first painting created after my son was born. “Earthbound” signified the start of a new journey for me as an artist, as my ambition to remain home to care for my son while having a career that I am passionate led me to pursue being an artist full-time. Each painting tells a unique story of the lone wolf finding strength and growth from within despite the challenges life throws at us all.
